The end of the month is practically here. Overall, I thought it was a pretty good month. A little bit stressful, a good amount of fun, and some relaxing vacation time. But September is on its way. Soon I’ll be posting September’s goals and expectations and August will be long forgotten. I figured I would round up all of my posts from the past month into nice neat categories.
This summer I got out to a lot of movies. The month of August was a bit slower, thank goodness, but reviews still went up. Here they are:
Elysium – Overall, it was a good movie. But good isn’t great and it definitely isn’t fantastic. It failed to live up to the standards presented in District 9. It has been good enough to give Blomkamp the go ahead for his next project Chappie.
Kick-Ass 2 – It was enjoyable. Definitely not as good as the first movie, but it had its moments. There were groans and there were smiles. A couple weeks later and I’m still not certain quite how I feel about it. We’ll wait and see if 3 has a chance.
The World’s End – Definitely one of the better movies of the summer. It was a whole lot of good fun and plenty of laughs. I wish it did better in the box office than it has. It is a good end for the Cornetto Trilogy.
The 12th Doctor – I relayed the announcement that the 12th Doctor was going to be revealed. Then I announced…
Single Cam vs Multi Cam – I discussed some of the differences between the two filming styles. All leading up to my personal preference.
90s TV Nostalgia – I am a child of the 90s, so I have some very fond memories of children’s TV from that period. I run through some of my favorite shows as a kid from different genres. Although, I have to admit a lot of it came from Nickelodeon.
Upcoming Fall Shows – A small preview of some of the new shows that will be airing this fall. I pointed out the shows I am most excited about. Surprise, surprise, they are all genre shows.
What YOU want to see reviewed – I said it. I made a post because I wanted to know what upcoming shows, both returning and new, you are most excited about. I shared what I wanted to see in Upcoming Fall Shows and I want to hear what you think.
I intended to write more retrospectives throughout the month. I even started to, but the only one that managed to get published was this one.
Planet of the Apes – I discussed some interesting points that the film raised. It is amazing that a film created over 40 years ago can still have such social relevance to our world at present.
I made some posts about movies in a general sense. You know things that aren’t movie specific.
Blockbusters – I discuss why blockbusters may be losing their impact.
Things That Get Under My Skin – The title is pretty obvious, I discuss some things that bother me when I am watching movies.
Only one experience piece this month.
Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Fest – If the tour is coming by your city, you should check it out.
All of the following falls under various different categories and sometimes more categories at once.
