About NaNoWriMo: The End Is Nigh

Yes, you heard it. This will be a short post as Black Friday shopping is calling me. But I had to weigh in on the final days of NaNoWriMo. Many of us hae been trudging away on the path to greatness. And by greatness I mean reaching 50k.

For any of you who have been plowing away trying to get your word counts in and reach your personal goals. When thanksgiving falls earlier in the month it is easy to use that weekend to catch up on writing. This year, you have today and tomorrow for your final push. I hope it’s enough for all of you. I know it will certainly be difficult

It is the final push, the last chance for you to get any of your words in. But let’s not pretend that it isn’t difficult to get those last words in. Sometimes deciding that you need to write is hard and becomes even harder when you are positively exhausted. I know you all are, because i certainly am. Writing makes me cringe whenever I think about it and the idea of sitting down for a writing session makes me want to do anything else in the world.

But, the end is nigh. When midnight December 1st rolls around, you are done. Sure there will be all of the editing. Then there will be the rewriting, and more editing. Thankfully, you don’t need to think about any of this yet. All you need to worry about is putting in any remaining effort into the last push. Remember, you can do it.

And should this final push not work out for you and you don’t reach the 50k or whatever goal you may have set for yourself, it is alright. Whatever you did write is more than you had on November first. So whether you were short 45k or 50 words it is more than before. So in a way, you still win.

Are you ready for the final push? How do you make yourself write that last little bit?
