There are a lot of things to be excited for this May, at least if your interest fall somewhat in line with mine. There are movies, games, even a tv show that has the potential to grab my attention and wrangle money away from me.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Release date: May 2nd, 2014
Dir. Marc Webb
The movie looks like it will be a bit of a mess, thankfully, it looks like it will be an enjoyable mess. That said, I don’t know if I even have it in me to miss a Spider-Man movie because he was my childhood superhero.
Release date: May 9th, 2014
Dir. Chris Brink
I have no idea how this movie is going to turn out. I do know that I like Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Zac Efron, and baby Franco (Dave Franco). I’ve heard good buzz about the movie and it certainly looks entertaining. There’s something to be said about simple plots that can really milk a situation and make it funny.
Release date: May 16th, 2014
Dir. Gareth Edwards & Keith Melton
I grew up watching Godzilla movies with my dad. Sure, I can’t remember the plot to a single one, but I remember being excited by giant fighting monsters. This remake seems to be following the more somber tone of the original Godzilla and looks like it will be a fun ride. Plus there is a fantastic cast to go along with the film.
Days of a Future Past
Release date: May 23rd, 2014
Dir. Bryan Singer
Yes, omg, yes. I’ve been excited about this movie from the beginning. I have always been a fan of X-Men thanks to the 90s cartoon show. By the way, if you remember loving that show don’t watch more than the first two seasons, trust me, you’ll thank me. Days of future past is bringing to life that classic storyline.
Release date: May 30th, 2014
Dir. Robert Stromberg
A twist on the tale of Sleeping Beauty. Admittedly, I have never liked Aurora, but the idea of Maleficent is intriguing. She’s evil and she’s powerful and that’s an interesting combination. I’m looking forward to see how they play out the story when the villain is the main character.
Release date: May 27th, 2014
It was originally supposed to be a launch game, but was delayed shortly before the launch of the new consoles. It should be an interesting character that can hack through the city. Hopefully, the delay was enough to make the game truly better. So far we know that it will have roughly 40 hours of gameplay which is a lot.
Release date: May 11th, 2014
Showrunner: John Logan and Sam Mendes
This is a very similar concept as League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in the sense that it uses classic mythology and mashes them together. Penny Dreadful has all of those classics. Dorian Gray and Mina Harker along with a whole slew of other characters. It’s dark. It’s intriguing and best of all it’s coming soon.
