Avengers: Age of Ultron Spoiler Talk

Avengers: Age of Ultron was our latest foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In it we got to see a whole array of little hints into the larger universe. One of the things that The Avengers movies do is bring our heroes together into one big cinematic event. In doing that all of our heroes bring all sorts of baggage to the table. One of the things that makes these Avengers movies different than the individual hero movies is that you only get glimpses of what can come in the individual. Because of this, there are a lot of fun things that happened in the movie that definitely qualify as spoilers.

This post is all about celebrating the spoilers. All the little bits that we don’t talk about in reviews or to people who didn’t see the movie yet. This is a chance to let out all the squeals and fangirl/fanboy moments of excitement. Here are some of the things that elicit the strongest reactions from me.

Stan Lee’s Cameo
Stan Lee makes his appearance in nearly every Marvel movie and Age of Ultron was no exception. This appearance, however, was probably my favorite of them all. His drunken muttering of “Excelsior” was enough to have been cracking up in an already satisfying scene. It was definitely one more the more enjoyable moments of the film as a whole.

Dr. Helen Cho hints at new characters
Helen Cho is the mother of Asmodeous Cho. He’s cool. If you don’t know about him you should look him up.

Ragnarok Vision
I really enjoyed this moment in the film. Some people think that there wasn’t much reason for this and that it didn’t add to the moment. They think it was Thor going off on his own to do stuff. While yes, this did spur him to take some solo actions it did fit with the film. Thor saw his vision of mass death in Asgard as a result of Scarlet Witch toying with his head. Everyone had their dark moments as they saw what had happened to them or what could be. In Thor’s case this happened to be a lot of death, heavily hinting at the destruction and devastation that will inevitably come in Thor: Ragnarok.

Ulysses Klaw and Wakanda screams Black Panther
We all know that Black Panther is coming. Sure, it was just a little detour in which we ventured into Wakanda and met up with a very shady Ulysses Klaw. Yes, it wasn’t anything big but it was an introduction to one of Black Panther’s biggest opponent’s.

Black Widow’s Graduation
We’ve always known that Natasha’s past has been rough. She’s been through a lot. She’s done terrible things. She was trained to essentially be an assassin/ ninja since she was a child. It’s a very tough life and learning what happened to her. The fact that she was sterilized at the end of her training so she’d never have the one thing that could potentially make her sacrifice a mission was a heavy hit. I really wish we got to explore more of that anguish. Especially since she seemed to really want a relationship with Banner. That emotional journey would have been satisfying, but it was shortened to a brief moment.

Seeds of Civil War
You could quickly see that not everything was good with the Avengers. The team was very split up and far from a united front. They didn’t even feel all that much like a team until the very end. Even then they felt more separate than a united front. There were some great moments between Steve and Tony as you saw their ideologies clash. It was like a super tiny mini, Civil War conflict. All it did was make me more excited for Civil War.

Vision has the mind stone
We’ve been seeing these infinity stones popping up. Pretty much ever movie that had at least some sort of space element has introduced a stone. In this case we finally learned what everyone suspected that Loki’s scepter was in fact holding the mind stone. Now it’s in Vision’s head, giving him life. It makes sense. I just hope that Vision doesn’t get destroyed in the clash with Thanos that will inevitably come as he tries to complete his infinity gauntlet.

Vision is worthy of Mjolnir
Yeah so it was very clear that Vision was awesome. Just seeing him on screen sent chills down my spine. And I find it very difficult to not be drawn to Vision. Not only was he visually striking, but he seemed like an interesting character to explore in the future. There had been plenty of jokes about the team not being able to lift Mjolnir. Cap made it budge, but ultimately it didn’t move. Vision lifted it like no issue. Hell, he seemed to wield it better than Thor. How could you not like Vision after that?

Quicksilver dies
Growing up I loved Quicksilver. He was legitimately one of my favorite comic character, if not my absolute favorite. I know I’m weird. Anyway, I loved the depiction of Quicksilver in Avengers. No, he wasn’t as fleshed out as I hoped. What little time the twins got to fleshing out tended to go to Scarlet Witch. Regardless seeing him shot up, took it out of me. They teased me and took away my favorite. At least he died with honor, but I hate that he died.

New Avengers
This was an exciting moment. We’ve always known that Avengers would be cycled out. I just didn’t realize how thrilled I would be to see the New Avengers grouped together in one spot. Espceially since they are comprised of characters I really love. Falcon, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, and Vision. That’s one hell of a team and I am totally down for that. They are fantastic.

Planet Hulk?
Banner was hurtling off to space last we saw him. His ship crash landed, but where is Banner. The Hulk is a literal beast. I’ve always loved his character and he’s pretty much unstoppable. I just hope we get an interesting storyline about where he disappeared to.

Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet
I don’t need to say much about this. We knew it was coming. That didn’t take away any excitement from finally seeing the gauntlet. It’s coming and hopefully it’s epic.
